Innovation House, Palo Alto: Speech
Minister, excellencies,
ladies and gentlemen.
I am very happy to have been part of the opening of Innovation House today.
If Norwegian companies are to keep track with the “changing times” and understand the technological trends that will influence the world in the years to come, a permanent presence here in Silicon Valley is vital. The opening of Innovation House reflects Norway’s desire to take an active part in exploring new research and technology frontiers.
Most of us perform better in a stimulating environment than when we do all by ourselves. Innovation House is intended to provide a base camp for Norwegian companies, start-ups and entrepreneurs wishing to gain a foothold in the dynamic Silicon Valley region. It is intended to be a diverse work environment of people with ambition and similar challenges.
As a tiny community that has had disproportionate impact in relation to its size, Silicon Valley has become a buzzword for technological innovation. A presence here will enable Norwegian start-ups and small companies to innovate, network, and explore new business opportunities with technology experts, investors and other entrepreneurs.
They will also be able to establish valuable contacts with the professional and academic communities on the West Coast.
I am confident that many exciting new ideas will be discussed, developed, and nourished in Innovation House in the coming years, and that the already close and inspiring relations between the United States and Norway will be further strengthened by the permanent Norwegian presence here in Silicon Valley.
Thank you.
