Their Majesties The King and Queen and Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess were in attendance today at the ceremony at Oslo City Hall in which Her Excellency President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia and peace activists Leymah Gbowee of Liberia and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen received the Nobel Peace Prize.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon concluded his four-day visit in Nepal with a meeting with the staff of the local UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) offices. The Crown Prince expressed admiration for their efforts and the extent of their achievements.
Lecture on the Millennium Development Goals
Today His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon held a lecture at Kathmandu University on the current status of the UN Millennium Development Goals. The day’s programme began with a visit to Bheri Technical School, where former combatants receive vocational training.
In Nepal on behalf of UNDP
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon has commenced his visit to Nepal. The Crown Prince is travelling in his capacity as Goodwill Ambassador for UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and is accompanied by the Administrator of UNDP, Ms Helen Clark.
Official opening of new Seamen's Church
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit officially opened the new Norwegian Seamen’s Church in Miami on Sunday, 20 November. The church is named Sjømannskirken H.K.H. Kronprinsesse Mette-Marits kirke, Scandinavian Church and Center.
Under Pressure
Today Her Majesty Queen Sonja will be attending the official opening of the exhibition “Under Pressure”. His Majesty King Harald, Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon will also be in attendance at the vernissage, where the Queen’s own pieces feature among the works on display.

The opera at the museum
Today the Opera House in Oslo and the Geopark in Stavanger were added to the collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Her Majesty The Queen presented models and architectural drawings of the two facilities as a gift to the museum.

Monument to witchcraft trial victims

His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg began the second day of the state visit at a breakfast with business leaders. State Visit from Luxembourg
Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg began their State Visit to Norway today. Their Majesties King Harald and Queen Sonja are serving as hosts for the guests, who were welcomed to Norway in a formal ceremony on the Palace Square.
Opened the Peregrino oil field
On Tuesday, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince officially opened Statoil’s new Peregrino oil field outside of Rio de Janeiro. The opening took place on board the Maersk Peregrino about 85 kilometres off the coast of Brazil.
The Abel Prize for 2011
His Majesty King Harald will present the prestigious Abel Prize to John Willard Milnor today, for his “pioneering discoveries in topology, geometry and algebra”. Earlier today the King granted the Abel Laureate an audience at the Royal Palace.

The world’s largest port festival is taking place this weekend in Hamburg. This year Norway is the festival’s partner country and today His Royal Highness The Crown Prince visited the long-running event.
The roof over roof renovation
On 2 May work began on upgrading the roof over the main wing of the Royal Palace. The project is expected to take about 16 months, from May 2011 to the end of 2012.
Mali Youth Summit on HIV
On April 16 Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the Global Youth Summit on HIV held in the capital of Mali, Bamako, where she gave a speech to over 100 young leaders from all over the world.
Emphasis on peacekeeping efforts

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon attended the opening of the International Student Festival in Trondheim on Friday. A total of 500 students from 104 countries are participating in this year’s festival, whose theme is global heath.
