Today Her Majesty The Queen formally opened the new exhibition entitled “The Royal Stable. Horses and their equipage 1905–1940”. The exhibition is open to the public from tomorrow, 13 October.
The 162nd Storting is open
Today, His Majesty The King opened the 162nd Norwegian Storting (Parliament). The ceremony took place according to tradition, and as stipulated in Article 74 of the Constitution.
Attending Eurosurf 2017
The European surfing championship – Eurosurf 2017 – will be taking place over the next 10 days. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess and their family are at Borestranda in Jæren in southwest Norway to watch the competition.

Her Highness Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner unveiled a bust of King Haakon VII outside the Norwegian Church Abroad in London today. The unveiling marked the opening of the refurbished St Olav’s Square.
Making the desert green
Outside the desert city of Aqaba, Jordan, lies a new facility the size of four football pitches. This is part of the Sahara Forest Project, which produces 10 000 litres of fresh water per day and is expecting a vegetable crop of 130 000 kg.

His Majesty The King presented the Abel Prize to the French mathematician Yves Meyer (77) Tuesday. Professor Meyer was awarded the prize “for his pivotal role in the development of the mathematical theory of wavelets.”

Opened one of the world’s steepest cable cars
