Young Leaders Summit II
On Tuesday 23 June, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit welcomed 28 young leaders from all over the world to the Young Leaders Summit II. “We are here to talk about the future. But more than that, we are here to make the future,” the Crown Princess stated in her opening words
The young leaders convened at Losby Manor outside Oslo 23-25 June to discuss ways to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS, with special focus on stigmatisation and discrimination of young people with HIV.
Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development Erik Solheim hosted the three-day summit for young leaders on behalf of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and the aids2031 project.
Reception on the Royal Yacht
At the end of the first day, all the summit participants were invited to a reception at Oslo City Hall hosted by the Mayor Fabian Stang, and later the same day there was a garden party organised by Aksept, a support and care centre in Oslo for people living with HIV/AIDS.
At the end of the second day, The Crown Prince and Crown Princess hosted a reception on board the Royal Yacht Norway for the participants.

Key issues addressed during the summit included strategic engagement of the media, funding for youth led-initiatives, sustained youth leadership and better support for promoting involvement among young people living with HIV.
On the final day, the young leaders and adviser participants shared their ideas and recommendations with politicians, heads of international institutions, and representatives of the media and financial institutions, including Norwegian Minister of the Environment Erik Solheim, UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé, Founder of Antiaids Foundation Elena Franchuk and James Gayle from the Ford Foundation.
Throughout the summit, participants shared their experiences and ideas on YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and blogs.
