After luncheon and a tour of the Odfjell vineyard, the afternoon was devoted to the Villa Grimaldi Peace Park.

Business seminar

Innovation Norway, in cooperation with the Embassy and the Chilean-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, arranged several business seminars in connection with The Crown Prince’s visit. Crown Prince Haakon opened the business seminar in Santiago, where subjects of common interest to Norwegian and Chilean business were the focus of attention. Important issues on the agenda included renewable energy and power distribution, communication and infrastructure, CSR and women/young entrepreneurs.

La Confluencia

The company SN Power was established in 2002 by Statkraft and Norfund to conduct energy projects primarily relating to hydropower in developing countries. Among its projects is the development of the Tinguiririca river system.

Thursday morning, Crown Prince Haakon laid the foundation stone for the next step of the development, referred to as the La Confluencia project. Many from the local village came to greet the Crown Prince, who was presented with the gift of a poncho made especially for the occasion.

The Odfjell Vineyard

The Crown Prince visited the Odfjell Vineyard, where he was given a tour of the premises before luncheon. Situated in the Maipó Valley, an hour outside of Santiago, the vineyard specialises in the production of red wine. The winery facility itself is carved into a mountain slope, and 60 % of the facility is underground. The vineyard is owned by the Odfjell family, and Norway represents an important market for the Odfjell products.
