Attended a friendly match

The Norwegian men’s national team won the match 6-0 with goals from Antonio Nusa, Kristoffer Vassbakk Ajer, Jørgen Strand Larsen, Fredrik Bjørkan, Bård Finne, and Hugo Vetlesen.

Girls' and women's football in the Middle East

Ahead of the match, Football President Lise Klaveness invited a roundtable discussion on the development of girls' and women's football in the Middle East.

The Crown Prince participated in the meeting along with, among others, His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, president of the Jordan Football Association, representatives from the Norwegian Football Association (NFF), Samar Nassar, Secretary General at Jordan Football Association, State Secretary Andreas Kravik from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zaineb Al-Samarai, President of the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports, and both countries' ambassadors.

Norway and the NFF have a long and close partnership with Jordan and Jordan Football Association, which plays a leading role in developing grassroots football for girls in the region. Football is the sport with the highest participation worldwide. Providing equal opportunities for boys and girls to participate in sports and football contributes to a more equitable society.

Gender equality through football was a significant theme during the state visit to Jordan in 2020. Their Majesties King Harald and Queen Sonja visited a girls' school outside Amman where Norwegian and Jordanian female footballers participated in a friendly match. At this school, football was used as a tool for integration, with Syrian and Jordanian children playing and interacting together, while also promoting gender equality. With support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the NFF has built 18 pitches and provided coaching education to 200 individuals in Jordan alone.
