Opened the Peregrino oil field

The first phase of development involves two platforms that are connected to an offshore vessel used for floating oil production, storage and offloading. This vessel was the site of the official opening.

In his remarks, Crown Prince Haakon focused on the productive and expanding cooperation between Norway and Brazil, not only in the maritime sector and petroleum industry but in other crucial areas as well, such as the environment, health care and efforts to combat poverty.

“Brazil is one of the most active countries in the world in combating climate change. Your Amazon Fund, which Norway supports, is an expression of our common commitment to fight deforestation and climate change.

Norway’s aim is to develop even closer ties with Brazil in the years to come. Energy, climate change and the environment, along with global political challenges such as health, human rights and fighting poverty, are all areas where we intend to take our cooperation a step further.”

During the opening ceremony, the Crown Prince unveiled a model of the field and a film detailing its development was shown.
