Green solutions at the Zero conference
Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess attended the 11th Zero conference in Oslo today. Both zero-emission aircraft and green public transport were on the programme.
The annual conference held by the Zero Emission Resource Organisation (ZERO) brings together trade and industry, innovators and decision-makers at a two-day meeting place to discuss climate issues. The focus of this year’s conference was on moving from fossil fuels to green excellence.
The E-CO Energi energy group, which works to promote responsible production of hydroelectricity, staged a pumping competition at its stand in the exhibition area on Youngstorget Square. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess also visited the Airbus Group’s stand, where Crown Prince Haakon climbed into the cockpit of the company’s first electric aircraft, the E-FAN.
Inspiration from several countries
Transport was a keyword at the seminar held at Oslo Congress Centre on the shift from fossil-fuelled transport to smart green mobility. The seminar offered a look at green transport solutions from Denmark, the Netherlands, China and Canada – as well as from at home in Norway.
Julie Andersland, the Commissioner of Climate, Cultural Affairs and Business Development for the City of Bergen, spoke about how Bergen is working to become a fossil-free city by 2030. Espen Strand Henriksen of the HjemJobbHjem mobility project in Rogaland county discussed how to motivate employees to drive less. Bernt Reitan Jenssen of Ruter – the common management company for public transport in Oslo and Akershus – showed how the company is helping to make the region greener.
ZERO works to prevent dangerous anthropogenic climate change and seeks to achieve a global zero-emission society by 2050.
