Housekeeping Section

The Section performs a wide range of cleaning duties. The staff also make beds, lay and decorate tables, and man the cloakroom. During large functions, the staff help the Palace's guests to settle in, and provide them with the assistance they need.

Floral Decorations

The Section includes florists who are responsible for decorating the tables and reception rooms with flowers in connection with banquets, official luncheons and other larger functions. They are also responsible for the floral arrangements at the King and Queen’s and Crown Prince and Crown Princess’s private residences.

Antiques Maintenance

The Royal Palace is a living museum that contains a large number of old and valuable objects, which require specialised cleaning and maintenance. The Section continually updates its expertise in this field.

Laundry

The Palace has its own laundry, that washes, presses and irons all laundry from the Palace and the other Royal residences, ranging from clothing, napkins and bed linen to uniforms and table linens used at banquets.

Organisation

The Housekeeping Section is part of the Royal Household, and is headed by Head Housekeeper Michelle Engen Mathisen. 

All staff members perform duties at the Royal Palace, on the Royal Yacht and at the other official and private Royal residences.
